Another 'Hogzilla' caught near Atlanta

By Associated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- A giant wild hog boasted to be bigger than the near-mythical "Hogzilla" caught in southern Georgia a few years ago has been killed in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood.

He said he hauled it to a truck weight station, which recorded the hairy hog at 1,100 pounds.
"He was an impressive beast. He was definitely a freak of nature," said documentary producer Nancy Donnelly. She said Hogzilla's tusks "” one measuring nearly 18 inches and the other nearly 16 inches "” set a new Safari Club International North American free-range record.
Are these things any relation to the Giant Bunny Rabbits? Can we shortly expect roaming herds of "WildeBunnies," trampling our posies and rooting through our cisterns?

Help!

Many years ago now in the Kennebunkport...

dump parade Orin Nest used to walk his 800+ pound sow on a leash in the parade. An 800 pound pig is a sight to be seen.

Can you imagine that happening today in K-port? This was back before 41 lived at Walkers Point. Though he did have a "cottage" just down the road.

Another weird critter happening:
Eagle lugging a deer head causes outage

Mon Jan 29, 5:38 PM ET

JUNEAU, Alaska - About 10,000 Juneau residents briefly lost power after a bald eagle lugging a deer head crashed into transmission lines.

The bird, weighed down by the deer head, apparently failed to clear the transmission lines, she said. A repair crew found the eagle dead, the deer head nearby.
Seems to me the hanging (dead) wild hog in pic #1 was seen once before on AMG, no? (Or, I never forget a dead hog.)

That hog does not need a spider to do publicity for it although I would hate to see it do a back flip.
Wandering donkey proves tough to corral

By AMY CALDER, Blethen Maine News Service Portland Press Herald Monday, February 12, 2007

PITTSFIELD - An effort to catch an elusive donkey became more sophisticated Sunday as a woman skilled in the psychology of horses tried her hand at the challenge.

Karina Lewis saddled her horse, Beauty, and headed out across a snowy field off Higgins Road toward Jenny, the yellow donkey that has evaded captors since Jan. 18.
They've already tried one, and got nowhere. This donkey is having a great time, and clearly has no intention of giving up being free.

LONDON --Webbed feet run in Stumpy's family, but he's the first to have four of them.

A rare mutation has left the eight-day-old duckling with two nearly full-sized legs behind the two he runs on. Nicky Janaway, a duck farmer in New Forest, Hampshire, 95 miles southwest of London, showed the duckling to reporters Saturday.
They could've had four frog legs and then let him go, the frog would be none the wiser.

"Nibbles" the elephant seal may be a misnomer...sounds more like he should be named "Chomper."
Rogue seal menacing man, beast in Calif.

April 14, 2007

JENNER, Calif. --Nibbles the elephant seal is defying his tame nickname by killing smaller seals, menacing a kayaker and chomping on a surfer and a dog on the northern California coast.

The 2,000-pound lone male is seen frequently at the Russian River outlet to the Pacific, and local marine recreational outlets are warning the public about the seal's aggression.

Hogzilla? 200-lb wild boar struck by car in Mass.

By Associated Press
October 24, 2008 10:04 AM

LANCASTER, Mass. — This was no ordinary road kill.

Massachusetts State Police say a 200-pound Russian wild boar was euthanized after being struck by a vehicle on a road in Lancaster earlier this week.

That was a big surprise to state wildlife experts. They say although some wild boars are known to live in northern New England, there never has been a native population of feral swine in Massachusetts.
Thieves Steal Sheep From Petting Farm
Workers Say Sheep's Best Friend, Oreo The Goat, Among The Upset

POSTED: 7:03 pm PST November 7, 2008

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. -- Sheep-nappers hit Rancho Cordova's Hagan Community Park overnight Thursday, making off with a 4-year-old woolly white male.

And his best friend, Oreo the goat, is upset, too.

"Oreo is his stable mate," Trish Lindvell with Rancho Cordova Parks and Recreation said. "Oreo's a little sad right now -- he wants his pen mate back."

Oh, you folks are horrible. What's next, degenerating into a little piece of ewe while getting your goat?
