RALLY TO DENOUNCE POLITICAL VIOLENCE

In Support of the Freedom of Speech, Press, and Assembly

Augusta, Maine

September 30th, 2017

In response to the increasing physical confrontations in our nation's political discourse, we the people come together to Denounce Political Violence from all factions within these United States of America. On September 30th from 12 o'clock to 3pm we will stand united at the Maine State House in Augusta to defend our right to gather without the threat of physical harassment.

We recognize that the right to Freedom of Speech plays a vital role in preventing our conversations from descending into blows. We understand that the Freedom of The Press has eroded to the point where a reporter must only report one story or watch their career be destroyed by both peers and the public. We acknowledge that our right to the Freedom of Assembly is compromised by our elected leadership, and by the inability of law enforcement to protect all public gatherings. We watch as our right to Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness is stripped away for speaking out against the growing tide of extremism that endorses violence, threatens violence, and uses violence.

As our country stands on the precipice, we stand together in solidarity against individuals, groups, and ideologies that use violence as the means to an end.

Current List of Speakers:

Richard Light – Gubernatorial Candidate for Maine

Hillary Lister – Medical Marijuana Advocate

Jim Bouchard – Speaker, Author, Media Personality

Chris Lyons – Candidate for United States Senate

John Rasmussen – Selectman, Organizer of The 1st Boston Free Speech Rally

Garret Kirkland – Activist for Freedom, Organizer of The 2nd Boston Free Speech Rally

Samson Racioppi – Massachusetts Congressional Candidate
