Same thing is now happening in Kennebunk; but it's a good thing in our case.

In the meantime, speaking of deputy clerks:

MONMOUTH -- The woman who worked as deputy town clerk for the past 12 years has lost her job.

Diane Macdougall, of Winthrop, was not fired, nor did she resign, Monmouth Town Manager Paul Bird said.

Bird declined to detail Macdougall's departure, saying personnel management is a confidential issue.

However, he said there was no money missing and no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

I saw an employment advt for the job last week. Wondered what happened.

The article notes that the town clerk also provides secy services for the twon manager. Not sure I would want that confict.

Her name was April Cohen when she took the job; the article above cites her name as April Tracy. Perhaps a change in marital status prompted (or contributed to) her departure.

It could also be that she found out the job was a tad bit more challenging than she'd anticipated. From what I've seen in our town, it's not for the fainthearted.
